Day 1 - Align: The Fundamentals

Since I had an extra day off, I was able to do my workout a little earlier than normal today. Today's workout was Align: The Fundamentals where Chalene takes her time explaining and showing the fundamental moves we'll be consistently doing throughout the workouts. It's a 45 minute workout...but absolutely worth it! How many times have you started a new program and not had a clue how to do the moves, let alone know what the correct form is and be expected to just "jump right in" and follow along? She has both a modifier and someone showing the advanced version of the moves. :) 

I know I'll be modifying more in the first couple of weeks, until I get more comfortable, stronger, and more flexible! Let's talk flexibility for a second, shall we? I'm generally not big on doing yoga, but I do stretch and know that my flexibility is no longer what it used to be. However...I realized just how inflexible I've become over the years! That dancer flexibility I had as a kid and teenager...long gone. But that's OK, because I know that by following this program, my flexibility will improve!

Last thought of the day, think Low Impact means you're not going to burn a lot of calories? Think again...this wasn't even a traditional workout and in 45 minutes I not only broke a sweat, but also burned almost 200 calories!
